Complexity of Happiness

Why is it so difficult to be happy? We all know what we need to do to be happy- live well, enjoy life, don’t take life seriously, express gratitude and so on. Why is it that many time we feel frustrated and ask ourselves-“What am I doing with my life?”, “Why can’t I be happy?”?

The fundamental problem with these “tips and tricks” to be happy is that they are very superficial, in the sense that their effect lasts only for a very short while. Their effect is somewhat like those of motivational books, they make you feel all powerful for a while and after sometime you are back to your normal self. To really understand the root cause of happiness or suffering for that matter, we need to go deeper into the question that “Why do we suffer?” because end of suffering is the beginning of true happiness.

But exploring the reason behind why we suffer is tremendously complicated. First of all, is the human mind even capable of releasing itself from the state of suffering? And if it is, how would that perfect person go on living his life?
